ANOTHER PRISONER DEAD AT MARCY CORRECTIONAL FACILITY

A prisoner was found critically injured after being beaten at New York's troubled Marcy Correctional Facility.
Terry Demonstoy was found unresponsive by a correction officer near midnight Friday evening, State Police confirmed Monday.
The officer found Demonstoy, 45, unconscious on the floor of a bathroom in a residential dormitory “with significant injuries,” a State Police spokesman told The Free Lance News.
The victim was transported to Wynn hospital in Utica where doctors discovered brain bleeds, a source said. A spokesman for the State Police confirmed Demonstoy “is being treated in the intensive care unit,” but the source said Demonstoy was brain-dead and doctors may pull-the-plug today.
At this time, “State Police believe Demonstoy's injuries are the result of an altercation with another incarcerated individual. The investigation is ongoing,” the spokesman added.
Marcy is the same state prison were Robert Brooks was murdered by a gang of guards in December 2024. Messiah Nantwi was also killed by guards at the Mid-State Correctional Facility less than three months later, which directly across the road from Marcy.
Gage Baker, Demonstoy’s son, reached out to The Free Lance News late Monday evening.
He said his father “was brutally beaten that day and this all resulted in brain death. He died two times, one in the ambulance and another time when he first arrived at Wynn Hospital.”
Baker said State Police investigators told him there were “multiple like 4-5 people that brutally attacked him.” In addition to brain injuries, Demonstoy suffered broken ribs.
“He has a black eye with dried blood on his hands and face,” Baker revealed.
One of his father’s attackers, Baker said, “is in custody as of now, and he is refusing to speak about the rest of the people involved.”
Demonstoy was scheduled to be released June 5.
“The reason they may have attacked him, was probably be because he gets out in less then two weeks,” Baker explained. He said investigators told him “the people involved there usually target people who get released early or soon.”
What makes it so bad, Baker said, his father “was already crippled and in a wheelchair fighting for the doctors there, to not take his leg.”
Baker revealed his father “was so scared to be there, and he told his mother multiple times he didn’t think he would make it out of there alive.”
While Demonstoy is currently “on life support,” he will be taken off soon.
“We are gonna be donating his organs to people in need because that’s what he would have wanted.,” Baker said. “He always did his best to help everyone in anyway that possibly could. I miss him so much.”

Correction: An earlier version of this preliminary report misidentified the victim. Also, a source who previously provided reliable information to The Free Lance News reported the victim was sodomized with ice cubes, but the State Police spokesman said there was no evidence of that.
